My name is Justin. I'm a 28-year old returning student excited to resume learning in school and finally pursue the career I've always wanted. My schooling experience was done entirely in Ohio, near the capital city of Columbus. I went to college at The Ohio State University and majored in Spanish and minored in Latin American studies. I believe that student-centered education is very important, and that too much emphasis on teacher-driven curriculums and lecturing is bad forlearners. Ultimately, I see education as a tool for solving social problems. I spent time studying abroad in México where
I witnessed a number of social and educational injustices. These experiences informed my education philosophy and I look forward to using education in my classroom to create a more equitable and egalitarian society.
I am currently working on my second semester of student teaching. My first was at Mission Vista High school, where I taught two 90-minute periods of US History. Presently, I'm teaching two periods of World Cultures and co-teaching a Spanish 2 class at Escondido High School. I'm concurrently pursuing my bilingual authorization.
